About Us
In 2007, the Hawai'i Pediatric Association Research and Education Foundation (HPAREF) partnered together with Family Voices of Hawai'i to become Hawaii's Family to Family Health Information Center (F2FHIC).  We are now part of a larger network providing information and referral, consultation and training to families of children and youth with special health care needs and their professional partners across the country.  Hilopa‘a, means to "braid firmly".  The name was given by kupuna Kahauanu Lake for Hawaii's New Freedom Initiative, the Hilopa'a Project.  Because the outcomes of that project were so important to our state, we chose to carry on the name and the good works of all those involved.

The Hilopa'a F2FHIC is funded by the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services, Health Resources Services Administration (HRSA), Maternal Child Health Bureau.
